Next step along the road to colony self-sufficiency - we do some work with moving gasses and liquids around, make some exo-suits and deal with some slimelung.

The next instalment of my Oxygen Not Included tutorial series, which deals with building a hospital and handling our first death.
Another short one, here we do some routine maintenance, start to mine out a second caustic biome, find our first vent and prepare and benefit from a Drecko ranch.
Just a quick one today (I didn't get as long to play as I'd expected). Starts the journey into the caustic biome and looks at reducing our carbon dioxide levels.
This fourth part of the series shows what many consider to be the end of the early game - we now have an initial coal power plant, some simple automation, and we've started preparing to explore the caustic biome.
The next part in my Oxygen Not Included tutorial series sees us finally complete a new bathroom with plumbing and water reclamation, start a ranch and begin to prepare for coal power.
Next hour or so of tutorial playthrough. I make a couple of silly mistakes, which slows down my water reclamation and plumbing work, but it's all ready by the end, if not quite working.
The start of another Oxygen Not Included playthrough - this time including tutorial commentary. It goes really well with a brilliant starting seed. Hope you can learn something from this.
Sadly, this proves to be the end of the playthrough.
I did finally receive a farmer (Jennifer - also interested in suit wearing, and is really strong), but it proves to be too little too late. Whilst I was prepping the Coal plant area and working on moving into a new biome (collecting chlorine), we were running out of food. I tried planting new crops, but it didn't help in time. The first to fall were Steven and Edain. Swiftly followed by Derek and DaveJ... At that point, I called it a day, as losing 4 dupes in such quick succession made any kind of ongoing success seem unlikely. |
